Put on your sombrero and get ready to party.
Cinco de Mayo is here, and that means local restaurants are offering food and drink specials, as well as live entertainment.
Mexican restaurants take center stage, but they aren’t the only ones getting in on the action. Check out these five places celebrating Cinco de May in Tampa.
Green Lemon, which offers a modern interpretation of authentic Mexican fare in South Tampa, got the fiesta started over the weekend with DJs, brunch and drink specials. The celebration continues Monday at the restaurant, which was named the best Mexican restaurant in Tampa by Foursquare in 2013 based on the amount of check-ins and likes. If last year’s festivities are any indication, you can expect to have a good time this year.
Catrinas Cocina y Galeria in Tampa, which offers authentic Mexican cuisine, also started celebrating over the weekend. They’re touting Monday’s fiesta as the biggest Cinco de Mayo party with the best Mexican cuisine. You’ll find DJ Gomez at 6 p.m. and Mr. Timbalero at 7.
Tres Amigos Cantina in Brandon will have drink specials all day, a $1 taco bar, and an outdoor party starting at 5 p.m. A classic rock concert featuring The Shift Band runs 6-10 p.m. Tables and chairs will be set up outside, but the restaurant suggests you bring your own folding chairs.
MacDinton’s in South Tampa is letting go of its Irish theme for the day. They’ll open for lunch at noon with a $5 Mexican buffet and various drink specials throughout the day. There will also be a piñata, a jalapeno eating contest for a Dos Equis beach cruiser, and live music from The Roberto Debourg Band, 7-11 p.m.
Southern Brewing & Winemaking in Tampa will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a southern twist, 6-11 p.m. There will be a special beer and mead release party with a tap takeover of six pepper treated beers, a pepper mead, and a Mexican fruit mead. You’ll also find games, tacos by Flaming Taco at 6 p.m., and live music from Dean Johanesen at 7 p.m.
